Welcome to Quasijarus!

Quasijarus is a project of the International Free Computing Task Force (IFCTF) led by Michael Sokolov to indefinitely continue the maintenance, support, and further development of the classic line of Berkeley UNIX on the classic VAX hardware.

This mission was originally carried by the Computer Systems Research Group (CSRG) at the University of California at Berkeley (UCB). They carried this mission successfully until around the time of the 4.3BSD and 4.3BSD-Tahoe releases (the summer of 1988). However, starting with the 4.3BSD-Reno release (1990) and even more in the following Net/2 and 4.4BSD releases, UCB deviated from the True UNIX mission in a number of ways.

Quasijarus Project has picked classic Berkeley UNIX up from where CSRG effectively dropped it and distributes the once-again-maintained code as 4.3BSD-Quasijarus.
